The Lagos All Progressives Congress, APC campaign flag off for the 2019 elections held on Tuesday was marred by violence as hoodlums engaged in a bloody clash at the venue of the rally.
The Lagos State Governor Ambode was delivering his speech when the situation turned violent as some hoodlums who are said to be members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, started a fight that turned bloody and made continuing with the rally dangerous.
The gang members openly displayed and deployed dangerous weapons including guns, knifes, and planks in the fight.
There was panic. Many people including three journalists from The Nation, Daily Telegraph and Ibile TV, sustained gunshot injuries from the clash which became a challenge for the security personnel present. Despite intermittent shooting into the air (by the police), the clash lasted some time before they (security personnel) could put it under control.
