When printing with a heated build platform on a Makerbot (or other 3d printers), Kapton tape seems to be a great surface material for ABS plastic. The problem is to get the Kapton tape on the build platform without bubbles. Here's a little trick for that. I'm using a sheet of glass as exchangeable base plate on my heated build platform. But this should work also with other material, as long as the plate is waterproof and smooth.
