Why Few National Retailers Take Apple Pay Now Or Intend To Do So This Year

In the not too recent past, it was thought that Apple Pay would become one of the leading ways that people would be able to pay for virtually everything, including Shoplicate online stores, using their iPhone. By having all of the credit card and bank information in your phone, instead of having to enter in any data, including your name, address, and all other pertinent information, it could simply be done with a tap or two. Unfortunately, there are very few national retailers that are looking to adopt Apple Pay right now, nor are they looking to do so anytime soon. Let's look at why this is, and what the advantages and disadvantages of using this payment processing system can be for Apple users.

The Herd Mentality Of Retailers

As a general rule, most people fall into a category known as those within the herd and others you look for a valuable Shoplicate review webpage. The so-called herd mentality is representative of those that prefer to keep things the same. Retailers also fall into this category, are notoriously conservative, and are not the first in line in order to adopt brand-new technologies. They must be compelled to make the changes, and once large retailers that are well known begin to adopt a certain system, others will not want to be left behind and will follow suit and do the same.

Setting The Precedent

For Apple Pay to become more ubiquitous, major players need to come on board and folks need to look for an amazing Shoplicate bonus. According to a survey that was recently posted on Reuters, the top 100 US retailers do not actually intend to adopt Apple Pay as a way to allow consumers to pay for goods. This is not to say that many of the top merchants do not like this mobile payment system, with most of them actually preferring to use it due to its simplicity. Until a precedent is set by a major retailer or two, retailers will continue to focus on specific reasons why they do not want to participate.

Why Retailers Don't Seem To Like Apple Pay

The first reason on the list is insufficient customer demand which means we have not reached a point where people are comfortable personally saving all of their personal data on to their phone in order to make purchases. Second is a problem that Apple itself has created which is not giving access to customer data generated by these transactions. This is indicative of Apple's desire to keep everything secret, all the way down to not being able to open up your iPhone. There is also the cost of upgrades and the competitive CurrentC product that is becoming more popular.

Not Built With Users In Mind

Another problem that seems to be holding things up is this need to bypass the use of credit cards by simply accessing a users information directly. By allowing direct access to bank accounts, and all of their credit, this makes people little bit apprehensive about using this app. If it were ever hacked, especially on a wide scale, it could be disastrous for millions of people. A small minority of Apple phone users have tried Apple Pay, with most saying that they liked it, it has yet to really take off on a global basis.

This Is Not Google Glass

This is a little different from another problematic product that was created which is Google Glass which consumers basically took a wait and see approach. They need to get out in front, start asking for Apple Pay to be used on a wider scale if this is ever going to happen. It is up to the retailers to also help, installing what is necessary so that people can use Apple Pay wherever they go. It will make things much more simple, and is a win-win scenario for not only Apple, but those that use the Apple phones.
