German words can get long. Very long. But how long can they get, really? What's the longest word a German would actually use?

For "Doppelkuppelungsgetriebe", go here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9h2W...

The words mentioned in this video are:

Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz
"Law on the transferrence of duties connected with the supervision of labelling beef"

Grundstücksverkehrsgenehmigungszuständigkeitsübertragungsverordnung
"Regulations for the transferrence of responsibility for property traffic authorisation"

Donaudampfschiffahrtselektrizitätenhauptbetriebswerksbauunterbeamtengesellschaft
"Association of subordinate officials of the electrical services main depot of the Danube Steamboat Shipping Company" -- Note that this word has 79 under the old, pre-1996 spelling rules; under the new rules, it would have 80 letters, but as the Danube Steamboat Shipping Company was founded in 1829, the old spelling is preserved. The Company itself existed; not, however, the association allegedly named here.

Eierschalensollbruchstellenverursacher
"Device to cause a break point on an egg-shell", i.e. egg-cracker

Eierköpfer
"Egg-decapitator", the correct term for the device.

Rechtsschutzversicherungsgesellschaften
"Legal protection insurance companies"
