When I used to look at the Charger I would think, "You're gonna go fast." When I used to look at the Trans Am I would think, "You're gonna get laid." I bought an MG Midget and neither happened.

WOW......how very wrong you are. Chargers came with everything from 6 cylinder engine options to the mighty 426. The weight was immense. The Trans Am was a light weight by way of comparison yet all of them came with the emissions laden 400 cu in Pontiac. If you want to go fast in either car.........changes are required for BOTH......neither is quick by the Standard of today. To bring 'em up to speed........I"ll take the easier to get there Trans Am over the Charger for sure. The Trans Am's just the better starting point with lighter weight, far better brakes and handling potential.........putting Horse power in either car is the EASY PART..........making that power something you can actually take advantage of to go fast is the harder challenge than comes easier in the Pontiac. But even in stock trim.........I wouldn't bet on the Charger to beat the Trans Am unless it's packing the 440 or Hemi that has enough torque to move all the weight. Those Trans Ams weren't as weak as most people want to believe and the Charger not as fast as legend tries to persuade us to believe.
