A netbook isn't ment for gaming however it is possible.
A lot of games won't work and a lot will.

To get the most out of your netbook you should consider this guide. I made it myself after i got surprised by the increase in performance after the changes i made.
I can run GTA multiplayer fluently in a 800x600 16Bit resolution.

The OS I used has given me the best gains. I also noticed it at different pc's at home.
After installing it I install ''NTREGOPT'' wich optimizes and defrags my register. It reduces the size of my register by ~13%. Defrag your hdd and other stuff everyone allready knows isn't mentioned here.

GTA Multiplayer in a server with over 400 people is totally playable with these settings.

Some games i can recommend are:

GTA San Andreas Multiplayer

World of Goo

Killing Floor

snes emulator

Toca Race Driver 3

Monster Trucks: Nitro

Beach Life

Tomb Raider Anniversary

The specifications of my netbook:

Asus EEEPC 901
Intel Atom N270 @ 1,7GHz
GMA 950 - No core oc as this is bullshit
2 GB RAM Transcend
4GB Phisson + 8GB Phisson + 16GB HCSD (write Caching enabled)
Windows TinyXP Rev. 09 Opt. 7 SP3 (very handy and clear site) (a lot of tweaks)
