Life is too short not to re-discover America. Around 1997 I realized that if I worked a job that offered two week's annual vacation, I'd end up working 26 years in exchange for 1 year of my life. With that thought and a dead-end career ahead, in 1998 we sold our house and set off on what would become a multi-year motorcycle tour of America. The result of riding and writing was my book Great American Motorcycle Tours which won the Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Award -- considered the Pulitzer Prize of travel writing. As it was featured in newspapers, magazines, radio, and television, it became the nation's best-selling motorcycle guidebook. When the landmark 5th edition was released it seemed that something extra was needed -- something like a literal "book launch."
