A real highlight on our Queensland tour 2001 is an excursion to the growing site of Drosera schizandra. Trevor Hannam guides us several km into the dense rainforest growing on the slopes of Queenslands' highest peak Mount Bartle Frere. Different from most other sundews the clandestine growing D. schizandra has adapted to the lowlight conditions beneath the dense canopy, gowing on a humid loose layer of rotting leaf litter. Northern Queenslands' rainforest is one of the oldest in the world, actually we will never forget this wonderful adventure.
