Blackpool is often called the Las Vegas of the north with its many slot machine amusement arcades along "the Golden Mile" It is in the process of a multi million pound refurbishment of the promenade. Gone are the old sea walls, now replaced with terraced steps and wide pedestrian walkways. Blackpool retains it's "kiss me quick" hats and sticks of rock but this is what attracts thousands of visitors each year who either do day trips from local towns or holiday here from places like Glasow, in Scotland. Every Friday and Saturday night during the summer the town is filled with Stag and hen party goers eager to celebrate in the many clubs and bars. Blackpool is riotous with colour, sounds, tastes and smells and you are never far away from the sound of the horse and carriages which trot from Tower to the Pleasure Beach and the sound of slot machines and bingo callers. This short video tries to weave together how I see and hear Blackpool from the "cheap and cheerfull" image to its new metamorphosis along the sea front.
