The Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded a $21.4 million contract for the long-awaited construction of northbound ramps at Georgia 400 and Interstate 85 on Atlanta's north side.
DOT officials say work will begin this summer and is scheduled to conclude by January, 2013.
Archer Western Contractors, LTD, of Atlanta will perform the construction, which is being funded by Georgia 400 toll revenues. Once in operation, the new ramps will offer southbound Georgia 400 motorists direct access to northbound I-85 and southbound I-85 motorists similar northbound Georgia 400 access.
