"Champions do not become champions when they win the event, but in the hours, weeks, months and years they spend preparing for it. The victorious performance itself is merely the demonstration of their championship character." (Alan Armstrong)

At the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, Canada's Melanie McCann finished in 11th place in the Modern Pentathlon competition, the highest-ever result by a Canadian at an Olympics.

For many, that kind of result would have validated the path to the summit of her sport. For Melanie, it only fuelled the burning fire to pursue those missing seconds, the edge to further focus her pistol, the commitment to take absolutely no short cuts to the podium at the 2015 Pan American Games (Toronto) and, ultimately, 2016 Olympic Games (Rio).

"No Short Cuts" demonstrates the daily grind required outside the lights to reach her goals under them.
