Sunday's game between bitter rivals the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers turned ugly just before the end. A hip check by Joe Vitale on Danny Briere sparked a brawl between players and incited a screaming match between the coaches of the two teams. Luckily, a Penguins fan harnessed the power of Hulkamania to help calm things down.
It was a pretty brutal hit. Just watch Briere's head snap back and you can see what we're talking about. Likely what sparked the brawl and coaches standing on the boards to yell at each other was the game being a high-scoring slugfest already and tempers just boiled over. It's possible the NHL may take a look at the hit, as they've been cracking down on reckless and dangerous hits this season much moreso than usual.
Our friend the Hulk Hogan look-alike was on the scene, just behind the glass in back of the Flyers bench. He utilized his deep understanding of conflict-resolution tactics to try and calm things down.
In a display of solidarity, Flyers player Scott Hartnell returned the universal symbol of Hulk Hogan camaraderie, the "let me hear you" hand-twirling cup of the ear.
Aw, best friends! Only the power of Hulkamania can truly bridge the divide between hometown fans and the opposing team. How fitting that this should happen on WrestleMania Sunday! We salute you, Hulk Hogan Guy. We are forever in your debt.
"Hulk Hogan Guy" is apparently on Twitter, @MalkaMania71. Make sure to tell him how deeply you appreciate him.
Here is the video of the collision and ensuing brawl and shouting match.

How can anyone possible refer to the Pittsburgh Penguins as a quality organization? The franchise was forced to tank 5 straight seasons from 2002-2006, to get 5 straight lottery draft picks, to try to build a team, with zero funds. The organization was facing bankruptcy, for the second time, since 1993, and no fans were showing up to the games, yet again. What fans are going to show up, to support a team, that will most likely be moved to another city, for possible, the second time, in less than 15 years? A sale of the team, and a relocation to another city, looked inevitable, once again. The NHL had to work fast, yet again, to find a way to save the Penguins, and the draft was the answer. Of those 5 "lottery" picks, the NHL awarded the Penguins, with 2 first overall picks, and 2 second overall picks. Those were the exact picks that Pittsburgh wanted, and needed, to draft Fleury, Malkin, Crosby, and then Staal. Whitney was a 5th overall pick, prior to the drafting of Fleury. How fortunate that the Penguins got the exact picks, and players, that they needed, to help fend off bankruptcy! What luck! What a joke! The NHL draft "lottery" was set to be televised, for the excitement of seeing, which teams would get which picks, but the actual "lottery" was not televised at all. The "results" were simply read out of envelopes instead. A twisted practice that the NHL still uses today, to help, in trouble teams, draft franchise players, with first overall picks. Did you really think that Tampa was not going to get the first overall pick to get Stamkos? Did you really think that the Islanders were not going to get the much needed first overall pick to get Tavares. Are you noting a trend! What luck all these team have, to get the first overall pick, when their franchise is in deep trouble. What a lame league! The championships that the Pens did win, first came in the early 90s, when the, then owner, bought a championship team, before going bankrupt himself. The Pens last championships came after, the NHL saved the Pens again from bankruptcy, with 4 straight, critical draft picks. Those "fixed" picks would win any team a championships or two. Not much to brag about. The Pens next championships will come around the time, of their next bankruptcy, when Malkin has left, and Crosby signs elsewhere! These are just facts. Look them up anywhere you want. It is all on wikipedia, if you want a one stop check of all of these facts. The Oilers are trying to do right now, what the Penguins did, where they were in serious financial trouble. The Oilers may get a 6th straight, high "lottery" pick! PS: Washington also tanked 4 seasons to get Ovechkin, Green, Backstrom, and the now departed, Semin. I hope this shows you that I am not just picking on the Pens! It is the NHL that should be ashamed of itself!
