This is the short second video of my recently restored beautiful little all alluminium 1955 valveless 2 stroke L40 scavenge blown 1395cc 40hp diesel engine. I must firstly point out what is pretty obvious to all and that's the fact that 'Tina' is not running 100% on song, mainly due to the fact that I totally stripped and rebuilt the CAV High Pressure Pump which yet needs to be professionally calibrated, so until then I doubt very much she'll run any better whatever I do, but hopefully you'll get a near enough impression of how they're meant to run and sound. This is in fact (yes honestly) the actual very first ever run with all the fluids present...ie Oil, Diesel and Water and as I unfortunately live in the middle of a housing estate you'll quickly understand why it's only a brief 2 minute video! The only problems that arose were a faulty water temperature gauge and a couple of diesel leaks that are easily repaired, Anyway, I hope you enjoy the unusual sound of this incredibly rare and illusive little beast! If these remarkable little engines interest you, please check out the other video of my 3 cylinder L60.Land Rover Series One "Turner" 2 Stroke 3 Cylinder Blown Diesel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tzAk... Finally, if you turn your speaker volume right up, you'll get a little audio impression of what my poor long suffering neighbours had to endure!!
