Ectoparasitic otopheidomenid mites (Acari: Otopheidomenidae) were never seen alive before in any part of the world. All stages of these were seen for the first time in Amazon Forest of Manu National Forest area, Cusco, Peru on hawk moths (Lepidoptera: Sphingidae) during an expedition in August 2010. Different stages of the live mite are presented in this video.
