Author John Claude Bemis, creator of the The Clockwork Dark series of children's books, visited Jackson Academy and spoke to upper elementary students about the creative writing process. As part of the discussion, he enlisted volunteers to serve as heroes and villain to act out a song he wrote and performed. Bemis explained the correlation between the stories and songs he writes and described the process of getting a book published. Lemuria Bookstore sponsored the author's visit to Jackson.
