This video shows a transfer-printing demonstration at the site of the former Spode factory in Stoke. I would like to say a big thank you to Paul Holdway who was very generous with his time. Paul was a highly-skilled copper plate engraver and is an expert printer. What he doesn’t know about transferware isn’t worth knowing!
The demonstration was filmed at Spode Works. This is an exhibition run and managed by the Spode Museum Trust. The exhibition will be open to the public from the 27th March until the end of October, 2015. This is the third year of the exhibition and within it are many displays of ceramics, tools, images of people, copper plates, videos and demonstrations. There is also a limited number of modern and vintage ceramics for sale (not part of the collection; these are donations to raise money for the Trust).
