One of the greatest movies ever made about filmmaking, I highly recommend Richard Rush's The Stuntman (1980). Starring Peter O'Toole as the arrogant movie director Eli Cross. Funny, dramatic, sad and hyper-actively paranoid.

In this scene, Eli Cross reveals his thematic reasons for stringing along the fugitive-from-justice-turned-stuntman Cameron (played by Steve Railsback).
