NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (Unreleased 1963 acetate demo) Out of Los Angeles, this brilliantly atmospheric recording is the creation of singer/song writer/arranger/producer, AL HAZAN. Al was among the movers and shakers in the L.A. music scene from about 1956 to 1965. This Jack Nitzsche arranged tune which Al wrote for his girlfriend, MARILEE SUMMERS, is one of two recordings of the song that he produced and recorded at Hollywood's legendary Gold Star Studio. The other was recorded by The STARR SISTERS. This demo by Marilee Summers, who at that time was a well known actress, model and talent agent, was used as a template in an almost note for note arrangement for the the only officially released version of 'Every Beat Of My Heart' by CINDY MALONE on Capitol Records in late 1963.
The version by The STARR SISTERS has an extra percussive effect not included on this version where Sonny Bono was holding an empty Coca-Cola bottle loosely with his thumb and forefinger and striking it with a key. Sound engineer Stan Ross then saturated his mic with reverb resulting in a distant 'clink' slathered in echo.
