Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (BCBSMA), a local not-for-profit health plan, surprised its 2010 William C. Van Faasen Community Service Sabbatical recipient. This years winner, Charles Selk, a project analyst with BCBSMA, will complete a six month sabbatical at The Center for Effective Philanthropy (CEP) working to streamline processes and transform CEPs data entry and migration strategy to make the organization more efficient.

Selks desire to become more involved in community service grew out of his work with BlueCrew, BCBSMAs volunteer program that encourages associates to give back to their communities. Last year, BlueCrew participants donated over 14,000 hours of volunteer service to help meet critical community needs across the Commonwealth.

BCBSMAs sabbatical program, in its fifth year, is part of BCBSMAs commitment as a corporate citizen to support the communities our members call home.
