After starting her career as a server in a Michelin 3-star restaurant in Spain, Button moved to New York to work for James Beard Award Winner, Johnny Iuzzini, followed by José Andrés in Los Angeles. In 2009, Button returned to Spain taking a seven-month stage at the “haute cuisine” restaurant where she began as server, a position that still heavily influences her cooking. After her stage, Button moved to Asheville, North Carolina, with now husband Meana to open her award winning tapas bar. A 2015 FOOD & WINE Best New Chef, Button was a semi-finalist for James Beard’s “Rising Star Chef” Award and was nominated for Food & Wine’s “People’s Choice Best New Chef” in both 2012 and 2013.
