This is the inaugural Living Room Lesson in which I endeavor, as so many before me, to teach Piedmont style, or thumb style, or Travis picking guitar basics. While Mississippi John Hurt's tune, "Let The Mermaids Flirt With Me" is the vehicle, it will hopefully serve as a broader foundation for learning to play in this style.
