One of the pioneers of wood-turning who made the transition from traditional kitchen bowls to artistic creations that had no use other than being beautiful.

Rude (pronounced Rudy) and his employer, Berea College, had a huge impact on the creation of the Southern Highland Craft Guild and the Kentucky Craft Guild.
