It's clear from this video that Sara Bareilles should do a collaboration project with Jay-Z. :)

The poem:

Dear Sara,

Let it be known that through time and through space,
There never existed one with such grace.
Nor possessed such impeccable style,
No matter how ever many the miles.

Smoother than bourbon, tonic, and gin,
Her candor, her gravity, pulls you in.
Her tenderness ages finer than wine,
Since she's always reading between the lines.

And I've never seen more beautiful art,
Than paintings of her kaleidoscope heart.
Her presence sets the stage aflame and aglow,
As her voice drags me through the undertow.

Sara, you always seem so inspired,
A person I've never more admired.
Sara, I have to ask, I have to plea,
Will you go to prom in Chicago with me?

Most Sincerely,

The story: So, my friend and I decided we were going to do something crazy before we graduated and had to live in the real world. I convinced him to come with me to Nashville so I could ask Sara Bareilles to our college prom.

I made a sign, bought flowers, and wrote a poem. To give the poem some flair, I colored the paper with coffee and burned the edges. It turned out so much better than we thought it would, and it probably wouldn't have happened without all the encouragement and support of all my fellow Sara Bareilles fans in Nashville. Thank you all for making it a memorable trip.
