Berlin-based record label Gobsmacked kicks off 2019 with a statement release from Irish DJ and producer Diarmaid O Meara. The Untitled Noise EP combines wide ranging elements, heavy raw modular sounds, unhinged heavy percussion, and innovative production styles into just four short tracks. The tracks were all recorded in one take, and are a true snapshot in time of a studio session.
"At this point, I’m done with the whole process of constantly changing and affecting sounds after the fact. It has started to bore me after using this process for easily a thousand productions over the years", says Diarmaid O Meara. "For the foreseeable future, it’s back to the roots. Give me a treated studio I can trust, intuitive equipment I can jam on, and a means to record a single audio track. It's feels more organic to me, taking that moment and immortalizing it as is. Raw is more fun."
In doing so, Diarmaid O Meara has stamped his identity all over this high-energy, bold recording. Pushing limits and denying conventional direction and production techniques.
Gobsmacked Records is a Berlin-based techno label that celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2018. The Irish brand began its journey as a club night in the south east Irish city of Waterford. Moving to Berlin in the summer of 2010 gave the label the opportunity to explore the music like it should be, in large post industrial spaces. Looking towards the future, Gobsmacked Records plans to continue its focus on releasing cutting edge high quality music by using the their creativity and resources as a platform, while also expanding the bi-weekly “Audio Affair Broadcast” radio show, produced by Diarmaid O Meara.
