Imperial Valley, el centro, westmorland, calipatria, imperial, calexico, Southern California earthquake today 2012 has struck east of San Diego. The Southern California earthquake today August 26, 2012 struck Brawley moments ago and could be felt across the region. No reports of injuries have yet to be detailed by local news.

Shortly after 10:16 am PST today, a 3.3 magnitude earthquake struck Southern California, USGS indicates to news. The earthquake erupted, however, with a shallow depth. USGS indicates to news that the quake was centered only eight miles below the earth's surface. As a result, shaking erupted across the immediate vicinity.

USGS details to news that the earthquake was just three miles west of Brawley. The quake was four miles east of Westmorland and eight miles south of Calipatria. The quake could also be felt in El Centro, sixteen miles north, and in Tijuana, roughly ninety miles east.

As many as a dozen aftershocks, some also in the 3.0 magnitude, have erupted in Brawley today. USGS indicates to news that three earthquake aftershocks have erupted since 10 am today from the Brawley region, all registering in excess of 3.0 magnitude. Nearly one dozen other aftershocks have erupted from that epicenter as well within the hour, all registering at least 1.5 magnitude or greater, USGS indicates to news.
