To mark the International Day of Peace 2014, our patron Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu has recorded a video message for our supporters.

He explains why 'talking peace' is so important for bridging divides and changing lives.

The International Day of Peace is celebrated every year on 21 September and was established in 1981 by a resolution of the UN General Assembly.

Talking Peace Festival is a series of events launched by International Alert around Peace Day to celebrate the power of words in resolving conflict. Find out how you can get involved at www.talkingpeacefestival.org
