This fire engine is owned by a coworker of mine in Grand Junction, Colorado. It was originally purchased by a fire department somewhere in Pennsylvania and then ended up at the Seneca, Wisconsin Fire Department between the 1970s (or 1980s) until it was sold on ebay sometime around 2007.

This particular fire engine, at the time of this recording in 2010, has a total of 13,440 miles. Low mileage for fire engines in small towns is very common - especially from the era when fire trucks would simply rush to an emergency scene only to sit there pumping water. So, the motor may receive a lot of use (abuse) while the entire vehicle wasn't used over great distances. Nowadays it may be a little different in that fire trucks respond to all kinds of emergencies - not just structure fires a few blocks away...

This truck's engine is a "straight six" (six cylanders in a row) at about 900 cubic inches (14 litres) of displacement. This fire truck is fully functional and, I believe, still authorized for fire use as indicated by a state seal/sticker in the windshield. As far as licensing it's registered as a collector's vehicle here in Colorado. Oh, the ebay price for the highest bidder was somewhere around $6,000 USD at the time of sale.

The little particles you see on the floorboard are from mice having tried to make a home in some of the insulation...
