This is a looting guide for players who spawn in and around Elektro who want basic supplies (hatchet, bandages, at least one food and drink) while avoiding PvP-heavy areas. This guide minimizes exposure to other players by avoiding the central part of the city (fire stations, school, church, pub, grocery, and barn). Those who want to play CoD: Elektro can use this guide to gain some basic supplies, but are probably better off risking a run to the central part of the city.

This was recorded on the US LA Private Hive. There were about 35 people playing at the time of recording.

The looting route follows the southern end of the city and focuses on the industrial section. I've tested this route extensively (about 40 times on high-volume servers) and can almost guarantee a hatchet with some basic supplies. It's possible to find handguns, shotguns, and lee enfields in this area, but they are less common.

Disclaimer 1: Looting Elektro is never "safe." I've had Makarov-yielding maniacs chase me down and kill me (as a fresh spawn) and, in this video, a player takes a swing at me with a hatchet. Player encounters in the industrial area are fewer, but they do exist, along with the risk of dying.

Disclaimer 2: At the beginning of the video, I encounter a friendly survivor west of Elektro. As we approach the city, he heads to the center of town while I head to the south. At the end of the video I have a hatchet, toolbox, extra bandages, and some food/drink. I spy him on the roof of the hospital with an M1911 and Lee Enfield. Yes, he had better loot at the end. However, he was also shot at multiple times in the city and nearly killed. As always in DayZ, higher risk yields higher rewards. However, the goal of the looting route was to get a hatchet and enough supplies to get a few towns north. Once there, it's easy to find rifles and handguns in barns and small towns while moving towards Stary and NWAF.
