Jess Phillips has announced she will stand as a candidate in the Labour leadership contest.
The Birmingham Yardley MP joins Emily Thornberry, Clive Lewis and Lisa Nandy as confirmed candidates. Others including Rebecca Long Bailey and the early frontrunner Keir Starmer are expected to join the race formally in the coming days.

On 29th October 2019 UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson erupted after Labour MP Jess Phillips accused him of spreading false information.

Boris Johnson told MPs:

"Does she want to deliver Brexit? No, she doesn't.

"They can see that they don't want to deliver Brexit, all they want to do is procrastinate.

"They don't want to deliver Brexit on October 31 or November 31 even on January 31."
