I recently stood up to the Mayor and City Council Members and highlighted the need for a public discussion on the $2.5 million fee waivers they were set to approve for the new Seton Teaching Hospital - the same Teaching Hospital that is being funded by the recent increase in our Central Health District taxes.
It didn't seem right for Austinites to, once again, pick up the bill for another set of multi-million dollar tax payer funded subsidies and utility fee waivers. With the support of fellow Austinites and a few allies on the City Council, we defeated the fee waiver initiative and returned $1.5 million to us the taxpayers.
Currently, I'm acting as a private citizen. Just imagine what we can accomplish when I'm on City Council focusing my attention on protecting us and our ability to thrive in our neighborhoods and city.
Vote Laura Pressley for Austin City Council District 4
