This is my take on Pullum Purna's theme from Street Fighter EX plus Alpha (for the PSX/PS One). Although this game was not the greatest Street Fighter game...IMO it was the most fresh for the time it came out. I was 11 years old when I first played it (on its day of release, was over a cousins house)...it was like a dream seeing some of my favorite SF characters in 3D. The soundtrack was (and still is)...amazing. Never heard music "like that" in a video game before then. But back to the track at hand, I have been against/avoiding ReWorking any of the music from the EX series since all of the arrange versions of the tracks released on the PSX ports are on some insane jazzy tier one BEAST MODE level. I didnt think anything I could to with the melodies (non sample) would live up to those versions. But I got to start somewhere with it...so here it is. Pullum's theme wasnt one of my favorite themes to begin with (not saying it sucks), but the other day when I was listening to certian phases of the track...an idea sparked, so I went straight to the piano and began to work it out. In contrast to the original, I went for a more smooth & groovy approach with the composition. I only covered 2 out of the 5 melodic phases of the original (did a few variations of the same melody riff). And for those wondering, 3:12 -3:50 is a melody I covered from the menu screen of another game (if you look through my favorites you will find it). Anyways I hope you all enjoy this ReWork...which could be the first of a potential SF ReWork album "Project EX". Not sure if I feel like doing the rest of the OST...
