The climate crisis facing the Amazon in Brazil is set to dominate talks as world leaders gather in Biarritz in the south of France for the G7 summit from Aug 24 to 26. However, Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro will not be at the summit. Environmental groups have blamed Mr Bolsonaro's policies for the current crisis. Mr Bob Ward, policy and communications director at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, gave his views on the climate impact of the Amazon fires and what world leaders can possibly do to urge Brazil to take action.
