This is a short video of me installing a hard drive caddy in my Acer Aspire Timelinex 4830TG.

I started shooting the video after I had already removed the original DVD drive, but it was pretty easy to remove - just remove the one screw (the one I mention in the video) and eject the DVD tray to use as leverage to pull the unit out. Then it is easy to simply slide the drive caddy into the slot.

The drive caddy I used was a 9.5mm SATA caddy I bought on eBay for AUD$11.69. Works fine so far. Only problem is that with my BIOS, I am not able to use this drive as a boot drive.

I mostly filmed this video for myself for future reference, so please excuse the boring, monotone commentary ;-)

* Update: I didn't show in the video that when you remove the original DVD drive, you need to then detach its mounting bracket (2 screws). That bracket is then screwed onto your caddy. The bracket contains the screw hole that will secure the caddy (or DVD drive) in your laptop. [You can see it at about the 26/27 second point in the video - it is at the back of the caddy]
