Thanks to support from The Rockefeller Foundation, Town and Country, and a coalition of nearly 20 partner organizations, civic leaders, chefs, prominent people in the food world and a squad of outstanding volunteers, Feedback was able to bring its flagship Feeding the 5000 campaign for the first time to Maine.
Together, we fed the public nearly 4400 portions of a delicious, free meal from food that otherwise needlessly would have gone to waste. Over 2500 of these meals were distributed through three of our partners networks of food banks, soup kitchens and other charities throughout the city. All in all, we were able to provide 4000+ meals made entirely from rescued produce!
Whether you were on the ground in Portland or joining in from cyberspace, you contributed to this historic celebration as Feedback and friends showed Maine how important of an issue food waste is (think: 40% of the food in the US is wasted from farm to fork) and wowed people with just how delicious the solutions to this global problem can be!
