Energy can take several forms. It can be a primary energy product such as coal or can be a secondary product like electricity. The transformation from primary energy to secondary products can give rise to challenges for energy statistics. Transformation processes need to be carefully understood and respected in order to ensure high quality data. There are also several different units which can be used to measure energy, from GWh to toe (tonnes of oil equivalent). Acquiring a sound understanding of these different units is essential for any work related to energy statistics.
This webinar addresses how to deal with the many forms of energy and how to monitor transformation from one product to another. By providing an introduction to conversion factors for different quantities, it will provide participants with the fundamental knowledge and tools to move from one unit to another.
