Paul Weston joined Columbia in 1950 from Capitol as Musical Director as well as a recording artist this must have been one of his first recordings for them.
The flip side is by Mitch Miller (also uploaded)who also joined Columbia in 1950.
The vocal is by The Norman Luboff Choir
Across The Wide Missouri was a 1951 western starring Clark Gable, although this came out a year earlier presumedly while the film was being shot it bears no reference to the film on the label.
The tune is better known as Shenandoah
