Apollo 13 - MCC7 & SM SEP
This video covers the last mid course correction burn (MCC7) which put Apollo 13 back into the re-entry corridor and the seperation and subsequent photography/comments of the Service Module. Preperation is then made by the crew to get ready for Lunar Module jettison and powerup of the Command Module Odyssey.
For the jettison sequence I have used cropped photos from the two camera magazines that were used to document the event. Each photo is downloadable from the internet as large JPG files - up to 8mb - from these pictures I cropped the best photos to show a close-up of the service module. The DAC film that Jim Lovell took is also included. I have edited out film that shows nothing on it.
This is part 43 of an intended series which will cover the entire Apollo 13 mission from launch to splashdown.
All GET is approximated. Orbiter Spaceflight Simulator is used to cover parts of the mission not covered by available video footage. PAO announcements are captioned for distance from earth and velocity. I have used some poetic licence in the RCS thruster firing sequences. I do not claim to know if these are how events looked in real time. I have added them to give the viewer something to watch while events unfold.
