Byron Gordon, SEO-PR, interviews Carlos Manzano, NYC Latin Media & Entertainment Commission on the subject of marketing online to the Latino/Hispanic audience. Carlos says according to the latest 2010 census, there is a significant growth of Hispanic population. Carlos says the buying power of the Hispanic community in the United States amounts to more than one trillion dollars. Latinos continue to occupy important positions in areas such as government, non-profit and private industry in general. In addition, Carlos says businesses wanting to market their goods to the Hispanic community in general must be made aware of the fact that the Latino culture consists of 20 different countries and there must be a keen understanding in the subtle differences between them. New York has the most diverse Latino population in the United States, according to Carlos, and reaching out to them correctly spells the difference between success and failure for any business trying to market its goods. Carlos emphasizes the importance of online search marketing, in particular, Google, and that in order for a business to be successful in marketing to the Hispanic community; it must know SEO, such as conducting appropriate keyword research. Carlos concludes with the announcement that for the first time in its history, New York City appointed a chief digital officer.
