Hello, I'm Sabine O'Hara, Dean of the University of the District of Columbia's College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences and host of the television series CAUSES.
The University of the District of Columbia is the only public university in DC and also the only land-grant university. This means that we stand in the proud tradition of universities like Ohio State, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Urbana Champaign Illinois, and Lincoln Nebraska. These are proud land-grant universities, located in rural communities, with large extension programs that educate farmers about the newest research crop production, or canning companies about the newest methods in food preservation, or 4H Club leaders about new programming ideas for rural children and youth. The topic of this edition of CAUSES is 4H and Youth Development. My guest are Jennifer Sirangelo, President and CEO of the National 4H Council and Rebecca Bankhead, Director of the CAUSES Center for 4H and Youth Development. Welcome, Ms. Sirangelo and Ms. Bankhead.
