The outback by the sea, Karumba has been voted the friendliest town in Tropical North Queensland. Situated on the mouth of the Norman River, Karumba is the centre of the Gulf’s prawning and barramundi industries and is a major port for the export of live cattle and minerals.

Karumba and Karumba Point have all of the facilities you’ll need for a few days or more in this popular fishing spot.

The area is the habitat of a vast array of bird species and of course saltwater crocodiles. There are a number of tour operators conducting half or full day fishing trips in the region. Some cruises cater for the bird watcher or croc spotter and others offer a more relaxed food and drink style tour whilst taking in the spectacular sunsets. Drop into the Barramundi Discovery Centre or catch the sunset.

Join the friendly crew in Karumba – it’s a must on your Gulf Savannah trip.
