Seek first, his kingdom and his righteousness
Come as you are, don't try, to clean up your mess
Listen Jesus, gave us an example to follow
He sweat blood on his knees and his prayers weren't hollow
Verse 1:
So where did Jesus teach us how to pray
Matthew 6, a Sermon, might have something to say
So listen up, we're praying and explaining the Word
From a closet where our culture may call us absurd

We say 'Our Father' to remind us of his perfect love
Divine Dad whose up in heaven above and
'Who art' reminds us of the Great I Am
A Holy God, A Creator, who became a man

We say 'hallowed' to honor your holy name
Because Your worthy, deserving, and Your Word remains
'Thy kingdom come' reminds us of the day ahead
When the Savior comes looking for His Church to wed
Verse 2:
Christ is clear, when showing us the way to pray
'Thy will be done' in our lives each and every day
Then a hope, for heaven to come down to earth
Cuz there's justice in the kingdom, a person is of worth!

'Give us, this day, our daily bread'
If we study the word of God we won't ever be dead
God sustains, He blesses, He provides us manna
So eat the Bread of Life and learn to sing hosanna

'Forgive us, our debts' please cleanse them away
And call us to repentance every time we disobey
Fill us, with grace, we don't deserve
'As we forgive our debtors' both the saved and unheard

Seek first, his kingdom and his righteousness
Verse 3:
Back to the Word, and Christ's prayer how-to
It's a model to dwell on not recite from a pew!
So we cry 'Don't lead us into temptation'
But come on trust God, He bought us redemption

And 'Deliver, us, from the evil one'
'Cuz Satan had plans, but so did God's Son
He redeemed us, He saved us, He called us his own
So He won't ever leave you, your never alone

'For thine is the kingdom and the power is yours'
For your glory, our praise rings out evermore
I'm on my knees, Lord, with a passionate prayer
That we learn how to seek as Your word declares
