The massive 60-feet-by-18-feet "Welcome To Long Beach" mural showcases the history and heritage of Long Beach. It was recently dedicated at gallery421 on the corner of West Broadway and Magnolia Avenue at the entrance to downtown Long Beach.
The mural was developed through the Redevelopment Agency's Percent for Public Art program, where 1 percent of construction costs in Redevelopment Project Areas are allocated to funding public art. Public art helps to shape a community's identity, build culture, foster a sense of civic pride and serve as an innovative revitalization tool.
