Michael was the special guest recently at the Ubuntu Fund fundraiser in New York, bringing a behind the scenes look and a powerful story to this week's Franti Friday:

"When I looked up what the definition of Ubuntu is, there were many definitions. The best definition I heard was a story.

It was told by a man doing relief work in South Africa. He said he put this chocolate bar under a tree and there was a group of 10 kids. He said, whoever can race to the tree first gets to have the chocolate bar.

So he says, on your mark, get set, and go. Just as he says go, the 10 kids all held hands and walked, very slowly, over to the tree and arrived there at exactly the same time.

The man said, why did you do that? The kids said, it's Ubuntu. It means all of us prosper when all of us work together. That is what the Ubuntu Fund is about. Making sure that everybody gets a piece of the pie." - Michael Franti
