"The Beethoven Frieze" an original work by The Mandelbrot Duo. Rupert Guenther (violin), Penelope Gunter-Thalhammer (cello). World premiere performance at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), Melbourne, Australia July 2011. Commissioned by the NGV for performance at their massive "Vienna: Art & Design" exhibition in Winter of 2011. The 54 minute work is based on the Gustav Klimt "Beethoven Frieze" giant mural in the Succession Building in Vienna. Every note in the entire work is performed by the classical improvisation method founded by the violinist Rupert Guenther. Original artists The Mandelbrot Duo are a trans-national classical improvisation duo of siblings Rupert Guenther and Penelope Gunter-Thalhammer, The duo are permanently based between Austria and Australia.
