No Recipes, Just Relationships: Looking Inward to Create a More Just Breastfeeding Field

Often with fewer resources and greater needs, as we work toward increasing access to quality and culturally-relevant care for vulnerable populations, we might be tempted to look for tips and techniques that might increase surface-level diversity or well-intentioned efforts at equity. Unfortunately using recipes, as enticing as they can be, builds greater cynicism and decreases trust among us and among communities with whom we work. During this webinar, Nanci Luna Jiménez, will elevate our conversation around access, equity and justice. She will ask us to look inward, personally and in our work, to grapple with internal barriers and biases. She will also invite us to look outward, to name and understand systemic oppressions and their impacts. She will explore the importance of listening and emotional healing, for ourselves and others; authenticity; trust; as well as context as she invites us toward a greater willingness to risk vulnerability. Join us as we build and reestablish “Just Relationships” as the basis for renewing our commitment to increase equity in the breastfeeding field!
