Made for ConnecTV [http://www.vimeo.com/connectv]

Probably not the most informative video about the Sega CD on Youtube, my main goal here was actually to experiment with effects. Having nothing to work with but a lousy DVD Handycam, I decided to try and leverage the terrible video quality by creating something viewers would expect to look bad. Thus, a look at the Sega CD framed as a full-motion video game.

Ideally, I would have subjected the video I shot to the same compression as actual SCD FMV went through, but I couldn't find a simple enough method for the scope of the project. So, I did the whole thing via video effects and filters, with varying success. I am fairly proud of the HUD, which uses only colors actually available in the Genesis palette.

I didn't have a good way to capture video directly from hardware, so I had to use an emulator for the gameplay footage. However, all games were played using original retail discs.

Anyhow, this video contains footage of various software released for the Sega CD in the US, which I hope everyone's lawyers will agree with me is included under fair use doctrine for the purposes of review and commentary.
