A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Da Nang, Vietnam by TravelPod blogger Ashliegash titled "Like being in a screen saver"

Ashliegash's travel blog entry:

"in hue, Ben said good bye to his incredibly stinky shoes which he had been wearing the whole trip, he tied them together and threw them into a tree next to the perfumed river ( a fitting place to leave such fragrant shoes) only to find that as soon as we had turned our back, a family came out of their boat and fished them out of the tree! they are going to regret that when the shoes get warm....

we arrived in da nang via bus which dropped us off in a random place leaving us to try and find our way around, we ended up getting a lift from 2 old guys who have bike taxis, they took us to some hotels to see if we wanted to stay there but they were all too expensive so we ended up walking 6km to the next town only to find there was nothing there, but it was late so we had to stay overnight. we walked the 6km back in the mentally hot sun and got back to da nang at about 8am. we found somewhere to stay and we headed off to hoi an on a rented bike. Da nang and hoi an are on the coast and have really nice beaches.

we got there after about an hours drive to find a nice mini city with many tailors who will make any piece of clothing or shoes to fit you. this place is full of Western tourists who are all here for the clothes and shoes so its quite an expensive place for us to be. we went to a few shops and Ben ended up getting a suit and shirt made and some trainers (as he has been wearing flip flops for a while now since the shoe kidnapping) we drove around all day looking around the city, it was very hot weather all day so it was nice to be moving around on the bike rather than walking.

the next day we went to pick up Ben's stuff, the suit looked amazing and fitted really well, i decided to get some linen trousers made as jeans are really hot to wear in this weather. the shoes were not as good a fit as they could have been but still good. whilst we were waiting for the trousers to be made, we went to the beach just to see what it was like, it was so surreal, it was like we were sitting in a screansaver. the beach had pale sand and blue sea and had palm trees with coconuts on them! mental! it was really nice to sit there for a bit, we got talking to a guy who was selling bracelets and he sat with us for a while as he was really bored with walking around.

we had dinner (tofu with pineapple and tomato with rice) and picked up the trousers which fitted well, we went and picked up out laundry and drove back to da nang."
