In this short part of a talk Bhante Vimalaramsi discusses the little known fact that the Buddha taught the Brahmavihara meditation (including the Metta or Lovingkindness object of meditation) more often than Breath. In fact it is mentioned in 12 suttas vs Breath is mentioned in only 4 in the Majjhima Nikaya.
He discusses how much more effective and faster it is than breath - actually 1 week practice of metta is equal to 6 weeks of breath work. We see this on retreats at our center.
