Turn on any Top-40 station in the country and you're likely to hear a Ria Mae song within an hour. Her breakthrough song Clothes Off was a radio hit when it came out in 2015. Someone from Sony Music heard it and later she got the call every pop star dreams of - an industry exec saying they liked her stuff.
Sony released her album (called Ria Mae) the following year and she proved to the world that Clothes Off wasn't a one-off. Ria Mae is a hit-maker.
Ria Mae is on the road a lot these days but she recently came home to Halifax for a special concert in the fall of 2017 with Symphony Nova Scotia and conductor Daniel Batholomew-Poyser. CBC Music was there.
In this video Ria chats with East Coast Music Hour host Bill Roach about what it's finally like to get up there at the Cohn and play with a symphony orchestra, and then we watch her perform Clothes Off.
