While most tigers love water, Jae Jae usually stays in the shallow end, only tentatively venturing into deeper water.
Jae Jae is a 130kg (20st 6lbs) Sumatran tiger at London Zoo, whose keepers have taught him to swim in order to strengthen his leg muscles and keep him cool during the summer.
They built a raft, in the middle of Jae Jae's new pool enclosure, and topped it with horse meat, the big cat's favourite.
The new raft forms part of his daily enrichment, helping to encourage his natural behaviour.
Born in San Francisco Zoo, Jae Jae moved to Akron Zoo, Ohio with his brothers Kami Sambol, and Burung when they were all a year old.In autumn 2012, Jae Jae was transferred to his new home in ZSL London Zoo to meet female tiger Melati as part of the global breeding programme for this critically endangered species.
Keepers say the introductions went well, and they believe they have made a successful match.
